Learning at Mechinat Hannaton

The Mechina Gap Year Program focuses on Judaism, Zionism, and Humanism, with the understanding that they complement each other and are a significant part of our shared story and peoplehood.

Judaism - Our lecturers, who span the spectrum of Judaism, teach Introduction to the Jewish bookcase, Philosophy, Talmud, and Beit Midrash sessions.

Zionism - Zionist ideology and thinkers, Israeli society and momentous foundational stories, history of the Land of Israel, the Jewish-Palestinian conflict, and economics.

Humanism - General and political philosophy, gender studies, environmental and climate studies, historical revolutions, and humanism.

Hannaton learning happens in the Beit Midrash, in workshops, through experiential learning outside the Beit Midrash, and analysis of the core questions relevant to citizens of the State of Israel wherever we choose to sit.

Learning at Mechinat Hannaton is an enriching, transformative experience where students practice communication skills, active listening, and meaningful dialogue. It is, above all,a personal growth process.
